When They Win - We Celebrate!
The first two months of 2025 have been full of excitement. We have enjoyed hearing from ALMS graduates calling us to share their achievements as adults. We've also been humbled by the recognitions from the community, including the Daily Democrat choosing ALMS as 'Yolo County Hero' - See the link below
We cannot express enough of the gratitude we have for ALMS donors and volunteers support. It is also a thrill watching our young people continue to grow in self-sufficiency, character, and in their careers. Their ongoing success stories not only inspire us but also fill us with hope for the future.
At the end of February, Jayne Williams, Executive Director, received a call from a thriving ALMS graduate who entered the medical field equipped with optimism and soft skills gained at ALMS.
Diana, now twenty-seven, participated in ALMS at Cache Creek High School in 2016. Later, with the referral and support of ALMS, she attended Job Corps to become a certified Medical Assistant. Since then, she has consistently called to report updates on her life's latest twists and turns.
In 2018, Diana completed her training at Job Corps and left home to follow a young man in a different state and become self-sufficient. She got her first job in a clinic, attended college, and through hard work and by the end of 2023 she landed a job in a major hospital. Last month she married her young man.
Diana is doing well and working hard. She called last week to report that the hospital has recognized her potential and offered to pay for her to go through a nursing program!
When they succeed, we celebrate!
But they cannot succeed without the incredible donors in our community. When you give a financial gift, the Diana's, Geoff's, Betty's, Jeremiah's, Edwardo's, Desiree's, Nyah's, and many more - have an opportunity for a better life that can produce generational change.
That's why we are urgently seeking 30 new monthly donor Heroes to join our existing ALMS Heroes who give $25 or more. Your support is needed now to ensure these young adults can continue to thrive and ALMS can continue to keep our doors open during difficult times. Thanks for letting us serve - we can't do it without you!
Imagine - the impact of changing the trajectory of just one young person’s life. “We would actually change more than that person because we would change how they choose their spouse, love their children, invest into their community, improve their planet – and maybe save the world.”
