Accountability, Professional Conduct, and a Growth Mindset

ALMS is Focused on Our Youth

Teaching the soft skills of accountability, professional conduct and a growth mindset are essential components to a young person's ability to get a job, keep the job, and excel in their future adult career and life. That's why ALMS is launching a new Trust training session in the medical field, opening new pathways for youth to succeed.

After successfully training young people in the construction field with Clark Pacific, we are proud to share that two out-of-school youth have been hired! After his first day, one of the young men returned to ALMS to pick up jeans, shirts, and work boots from the ALMS clothing closet. These successes demonstrate the tangible impact of our programs and partnerships, which help youth gain employment and build confidence. We are grateful for the ongoing support from businesses that care about the youth in Yolo and make room for them to grow financially.

That is why ALMS must support their emotional and social journey out of the effects of the pandemic and social media so they can see a brighter future and their role in it.

Teaching accountability, along with mentors, can begin transforming a new mindset for a young man to support his family, and a mother and her children. The soft skills series focused on the medical field starts on May 5th, with nurses and retired medical professionals as mentors. This program offers participants practical skills, mentorship, and connections to job shadowing, internships, and a pathway into a nursing program. With stipends for perfect attendance, the series encourages early engagement and will prepare young mothers for sustainable careers in healthcare, fostering long-term community benefits.

In the coming days, we will be sharing more about what your support makes possible. Your continued involvement truly makes a difference. For now, we ask for your support during the 2026 Big Day of Giving on May 7, when our community comes together to uplift and invest in essential work nonprofit organizations are doing in Northern California.

Early giving begins April 23, allowing more time for supporters to make an impact.

Thank you for being part of a our community that prepares our youth to overcome barriers, break cycles of poverty, and changes their future trajectory.
